Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing with a history of continuous usage for over 3000yrs. In Asian countries such as Japan, China, Taiwan, it is an accepted component of medical treatment and now becoming more well known in Australia as people experience benefits.
Acupuncture focuses on maintaining optimum health, rather than simply curing disease. It seeks to restore a state of internal balance and facilitate the flow of energy throughout the body.
Is it painful?
I use small ultra fine single use Japanese style needles which are virtually pain free. Many people experience relaxation and well-being during treatment.
What can it treat?
It has pain relieving, anti-inflammatory effects, strengthens the immune system and promotes general well being. It can be used for a wide variety of conditions including musculo-skeletal pain & injuries, digestive, anxiety and immune disorders.
I have a special interest in eye problems.
How does it work?
The selection of acupuncture points is based on a diagnosis of the individual’s energy imbalance and the treatment is designed to move a disturbed physiological pattern into a state of balance and harmony. Studies in neurophysiology demonstrate that physiological adjustments are brought about by subtle changes in the central, peripheral and autonomic nervous system.
How many treatments are needed?
A course of 6-10 sessions is recommended, although results may be apparent after one treatment. Generally long term problems may require more sessions, acute problems less
